TO POPULARISE WOOL
CAMPAIGN IN ENGLAND NEED FOR MORE PURCHASES FROM DOMINIONS LONDON, May 16. “Largely through complacency in the wool trade it has lost ground which on its merits it should never have done,” said Mr. Clunies Ross at the International Wool Secretariats’ lunch in the Mayfair Hotel. The gathering was preceded by a mannequin display of most attractive fashions in wool lingeries, paraded in a campaign to popularise woollen underwear. Mr. Ross pointed to the example of New Zealand’s Impulse to reduce imports in order conscientiously to meet debt charges in London. “It is a reminder of the need for increased purchases of Dominion products. notably wool, which is the backbone of Australian, New Zealand, and African economies. Hence British prosperity by trade is interlinked with theirs.”
