THREE ON THE AWATEA. I Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, 1 May 16. Three stowaways on the Awatea which arrived yesterday, were dealt with by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., to-day. John Torpey, alias Tarpey, aged. 38, a labourer, received one month’s hard labour, and Frank Edwin Foster, aged 18, and Frederick Clark, aged 22, received each 14 days’ hard labour. It was stated that there was nothing known against the two last, but that Torpey gave a wrong name and was traced by his finger-prints.
