CLAIM AGAINST CROWN NEGLIGENCE OF PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT [Per Press Association ] HAMILTON, May 16. Holding that the Crown had failed to prove contributory negligence, Mr. Justice Reed, in the Supreme Court, at Hamilton, to-day, awarded £338 10s special and general damages to John Randall Sellars, farmer, of Aria, who had sought £4BB 10s damages against the Crown. The claim was made as the result of an accident on the Great South Road near Te Kuiti on November 2, the suppliant alleging that the negligence of the Public Works Department had caused his car to run off the road into a cutting.
