PLAZA THEATRE

“HEY! HEY! U.S.A.” AND “MK. DOODLE KICKS OFF” The English comedian Will Hay appears with Edgar Kennedy in the hilarious comedy •'Hey! Hey! U.5.A.,” which is to be shown to-day at the Plaza Theatre, with "Mr. Doodle, Kicks Oft” as the associate feature.! The plot of the first film concerns a kidnapping and its hilarious conse-1 quences. It is well up to the high standard set by the English comedian ’ in his former pictures, and offers him an opportunity for another of the delightful characterisations in which he is adept. His style is in sharp contrast to that of Edgar Kennedy, and the pair are almost perfect foils for each other. Fun on the campus, laughs and thrills on the football field, and heyhey in the classrooms—these and more add up to the entertainment ingredients of Joe Penner's latest film riot, "Mr. Doodle Kicks Off,” the associate film. Fun and laughs are the keynote of this amazing story, in which Joe Penner emerges as a jazzmad collegian whose father enters into a conspiracy with the school authorities to mould Penner, against his wishes, into a football gladiator. June Travis is cast opposite the popular radio and screen comedian as a pretty co-ed assigned to lure Penner into football togs, despite the fact that he despises athletics. Miss Travis makes an appealing foil to Penner and his inimitable antics. Richard Lane as a goofy coach, Ben Alexander as a heroic football idol, Billy Gil- ■ bert as a daffy professor of Greek, Jack Carson as a sports writer and Alan Bruce as captain of the football team all contribute their respective talents to this melange of merriment. “Always in Trouble” Mischievous Jane Withers is in a 5 jam again! Whether you take this to ! mean jam in the pantry or on the highway—it still spells trouble for filmdom's sixth most popular star. I Audiences will agree that “Always in I Trouble,” screening on Friday at the! < Plaza Theatre, is not only Jane's best' ! film escapade, but also by far her best picture title. ' ,
