VISITING COUNSEL

WANGANUI SUPREME COURT AUCKLAND, WELLINGTON AND HAWERA Current sittings nf the Supreme Court, at Wanganui are responsible fot a visit to Wanganui ot two wellknown counsel, Mr. F. W. Schramm M.P., of Auckland, and Mr. O. C. Mazengarb, of Wellington. Mr. Schramm appeared for an accused in a criminal action yesterday and Mr Mazengarb is to appear tci-day in a civil claim for damages, amounting to more than £2OOO, for Injuries suffered as the result of alleged negligent drying of a motor vehicle. Mr. Schramm's visit is of particular interest to Wanganui, in tuat more than 20 years ago, during the term of Mr. F. W. Hart as registrar of the Supreme Court at Wanganui, he was

on the Court staff. By a strange coincidence the present registrar of the Wanganui Supreme Court, Mr. C. O. Pratt, was also on the staff during Mr. Hart’s term. Mr. Schramm has represented Auckland East electorate in Parliament since 1931. Mr. P. J. O’Dea, of Hawera, another counsel from a distant centre, brought to Wanganui because of the Supreme Court sittings, is a son of the late Mi. P. O'Dea, of Hawera, who, when he practised at the Bar ,was one of the noted counsel of the Dominion. He served for some years as a membet of the Wanganui Education Board.
