FINE PERFORMANCES CREESE A DOUBLE CENTURY Received May 13, 7.5 p.m. LONDON, May 12. Although there was heavy scoring ' in some of the county cricket matches which were completed to-day, runs were hard to get in the match between Derbyshire and Oxford University. Copsori (Derby) took five for 12 and five for 9, and Pcthcr (Oxford) took five for 7. For Hampshire, who ran up the big [total of 500 for nine, Creese made a [double century. Compton (Middlesex), with 181, was another hatsman who i scored heavily. I Results are:— | Sussex v. Somerset, at Home.—Sussex, 173 (Wellard six for 67) and 158. Somerset, 250 and 82 for one. Somerset won by nine wickets. Surrey v. Worcestershire, at the Oval —Surrey, 396 (Squires 101, Parker SO) and 211 for none (Fishlock, not out, 100, Gregory, not out, 105). Worcestershire. 163 and 195. Surrey won by 249 runs. Oxford University v. Derbyshire, at Oxford.—Derbyshire, 210 (Rhodes 80) and 72 (Pether, five for 7). Oxford, 72 (Copson five for 12) and 47 (Copson five for 9, A. Pope five for 30). Derbyshire won by 163 runs. Northamptonshire v. Hampshire, al. Northampton.—Hampshire. 500 for nine, declared (Creese 241). Northamptonshire, 299 (Timms 114), and following on, 280 for six. Hampshire won on the first innings. Middlesex v. Essex, at Lord’s. - Essex, 403 (O’Connor 128, Avery 129) and 173 for seven, declared. Middlesex, 353 (Compton 181) and 224 for eight. Middlesex won by two wickets. Cambridge University v. Nottinghamshire, at Cambridge. —Cambridge, 239 (Blake 80) and 221. Nottinghamshire, 418 for nine, declared (Voce 104), and 46 for none. Nottinghamshire won by ten wickets.
