EXAMINED IN COURT SHARE TRANSACTIONS. Received April 26, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, April 24. The former company director, Victor B. Mclnnes, whose estate was sequestrated on January 27, was examined in the Bankruptcy Court today on the petition of the Public Trustee. It was officially reported that the cause of sequestration was a judgment obtained in December, 1937, by the Public Trustee and the liquidator of Mclnnes and Company, Limited, for £10,297 in respect to unpaid calls on the ordinary shares held by him in that company. His liabilities include £ll2 due for income tax in New Zealand. It was also reported that he gave evidence in 1934 before the Royal Commission in Sydney which inquired Into the activities of certain other companies. Mclnnes was released from attendance at that Commission and returned to New Zealand, where he was associated with other companies, and finally went abroad. His salary between July, 1932, and August, 1934, was £6020. Mclnnes to-day was examined in regard to share transactions in Australia and New Zealand and, in the course of evidence, he denied that he had bought shares in his wife’s name. The examination was adjourned.
