• INCIDENT AT RANDWICK

COORANGA S RIDER BLINDED SYDNEY, April 24. An unusual mishap in the Tattersail's Gold Cup race at Randwick on Saturday is estimated to have cost the betting fraternity many thousands of pounds lost on Cooranga, which was ridden by E. Bartie. Just after the start a clod of earth thrown up by the leaders struck Bartie on the bridge ot the nose with such force that it dazed him. Thereafter he rode blind, Cooranga finishing about eighth. Bartie was smothered in blood when he returned after the race.
