EARLSTON STUD DISPERSAL
OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION JERSEYS The first fixture of a week of important Jersey sales to be held in Wellington Province will take place on Monday, May 8, when the Earlston stud of Messrs. Chisholm Bros, will be hold at Hunterville by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., and the New Zealand Farmers’ Distributing Co., Ltd., auctioneers in conjunction. Messrs. Chisholm Bros, are known throughout the North Island as practical breeders of many years’ standing who have achieved unique sue-1 cess. Their herd was founded on ani-1 mals of proved production ancestry j and their policy of using only the i most prepotent production strains in] their sires has led to some remarkable records being established. The cattle to be dispersed at the sale will comprise principally the progeny of that great sire Waipiko Journalist, champion butterfat bull, whose 18 c.o.r. tested daughters have the remarkable average production of 566.491 b fat. There will also be many daughters of Waipiko Juan (who has been successfully mated to the daughters of Journalist), who is royally bred from production lines, his seven nearest dams having a c.br. average of 7361 b fat. Six of his daughters have already been tested and have produced up to 5141 b fat as two-year-olds. There are many more which promise to exceed this figure. The present herd sire, to whom all the females have been mated, is Jersey Glen Nobility—bred from great show types—whose progeny give every indication of being great producers and real quality bred types.
