TOURNEY NEXT AUGUST VISIT TO AUSTRALIA After a good deal of controversy, the New Zealand Badminton Federation has decided to hold the national championships this year after the return of the representative team from Australia. There had been suggestions that the tournament should be held before the team sailed. The touring side will leave for Australia at the end of July and return to New Zealand on August 17, four days before the tournament begins at New Plymouth. Four men and four women, with a manager, will make the tour. A considerable amount of correspondence has been exchanged with English headquarters on the proposed Empire tour by a British team next year. The latest proposal is that a fully representative English team should visit the Malay States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada in that order. New Zealand has asked for two men and two women to tour New Zealand in August of next year. The intention is that they should play at several centres before competing at the national Centennial championships at Wellington and at a special Centennial tournament at Auckland just before sailing for Vancouver. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Federation will be held at Wellington on Saturday, May 20.
