WEDDING
MILLAN—NEAL. A pretty wedding of interest to Patea was solemnised on Easter Saturday at the Methodist Church, Patea, when Violet Lydia, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Neal, Main South Road, Patea, was married to William John, only son of Mr. J. and the late Mrs. Millan, Lincoln Street, Patea. 'Rev. R. Patchett officiated. Friends of the bride artistically decorated the church with pale pink and blue flowers toning with the bridai colours. Escorted by her father, the bride was attired in a gown of ivory satin, buttoned from neck to waist at the back, the long graceful lines of the frock forming a slight train. The ( bodice, with its Peter Pan collar, was shirred in the centre front, and the full leg-o-mutton sleeves formed a pi int over the hand. The beautiful i e 1 veil, worn over the face on enterrig the church, was held to the head with a na;o of orange blossom and she carried an exquisite arm spray of cactus dahlias, lilies, roses and maidenhair fern. Mrs. C. V. Busing, Kaponga (sister of the bride) attended as matron of honour, and Miss Ruth Millan, Patea (sister of the groom) as bridesmaid. Their identical frocks of perivVTnkle blue matalasse, made on similar lines to that of the bride, had heart shaped necklines, finished with diamante clips aid short puff sleeves, with which were worn elbow length silk gloves, '.'hej wore halo veils of stiffened net ffi match, mounted with a pink flower spray and carried bouquets of pink .'nd clue flowers. Mr. Robert Clarkson, Patea, was best man, and Mr. Peter Blyde, groomsman. •‘The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden” was sung as the bridal party ’ entered the church and at the con-j elusion of the ceremony the “Wedding March,” from Hohengrin, was played, Miss R. Locker officiating at the organ. Two silver horseshoes were present- ' ed to the bride as she left the church by her nieces, Doreen Nelson and June Busing. The reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, where a large marquee had been erected on j the lawn. It was decorated witn | punga fronds, hydrangeas and giant i dahlias, and the tables were beauti- ' fully decorated with pink and blue i flowers. To receive her guests, numbering 50, Mrs. Neal wore a gown of floral liberty silk, with black edge to edge coat, toning hat and shoes, and wore I a scarlet shoulder spray. When Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Millan left by car for the north, the bride was wearing a brown tailored costume with peach crepe de chene blouse, brown felt hat with full length veil, matching shoes and ' andbag, and a handsome fur, the gift of the bridegroom. Their future home will he in Patea.
