WANGANUI ASSOCIATION INCREASE IN ENTRIES GAMES TO START TO-MORROW The Wanganui Basketball Association’s grade competitions will open tomorrow with a total of 35 teams, five more than competed last year. The competitions this year will be played in four grades, the entries being as follow: — Senior. Technical Old Girls, Nga Toa, Y.M.C.A., Past Students, Glencoe, Technical College. Junior. —Glencoe, Fordell, Nga Toa, Past Students, McKenzie’s, Technical Old Girls. Convent, Technical College. Y.M.C.A., Marian. Third Grade.—Southern Cross, Glencoe, Antonians, Warnocks, St. Peter’s, Convent A and B, Technical College. Fourth Grade.—Convent A and B, Technical College A and B, Y.M.C.A., Intermediate, St. Peter’s, Southern Cross, Marian, Cambridge, Antonians. Last year’s grade winners were:— Senior, Technical Old Girls; junior, Kia Ora; thirds, Fordell; fourths, Marian. THE DRAW ANNOUNCED The following is the draw for tomorrow : First Grade.—Past Students v. Tech. College, on Tech. No. 1, at 2 p.m.; referee, Miss O. Kennedy. Y.M.C.A. v. Glencoe, on Tech. No. 1, at 2.45 p.m.; referee, Mr. R. Francis. Tech. Old Girls v. Nga Toa, on Tech. No. 1, at 3.30 p.m.; referee, Mr. Lewis. Second Grade.—Glencoe v. Nga Toa on Tech. No. 2, ht 3.30 p.m.; referee, Miss Broadbent. Past Students v. Fordell on Tech. No. 2, at 2.45 p.m.; referee, Mr. Harris. Convent v. Tech. College, on Tech. No. 2, at 2 p.m.; referee, Miss J. Ching. Tech. Old Girls v. Y.M.C.A. at Intermediate, at 2 p.m.; referee, Miss J. McFarland. McKenzie’s v. Marian, at Intermediate, at 2.45 p.m.; referee, Miss Methvern. Third Grade.—Warnocks v. Tech. College., at Intermediate, at 3.30 p.m.; referee, Miss B. Goldsbury. Glencoe v. Convent B, at Convent No. 1, at 2 p.m.; Convent referee. St. Peter's v. Antonians, at Convent No. 2, at 2 p.m.; referee, Mr. Davies. Southern Cross v. Convent A, at Convent No. 1, at 3 p.m.: Convent referee. Because of the shortage of grounds and referees, all fourth grade games will be held over for a week or a fortnight. The draw for this grade will be published next week. Captains of all winning teams must see that the . results are handed to Mr. Lewis every Saturday. Games will be played in two spells of 20 minutes each, with a five minutes interval. TEAMS FOR TO-MORROW The following are the girls to represent Technical Old Girls A against Nga Toa, at Technical College, at 3.30 p.m. to-morrow: — Goal: J. Goldsbury, J. McFarland, J. Glasgow. Centre: N. Nicholls, R. Granville. E. Goldlhorpe. Defence: E. Waters, B. Gowan, D. Aitken. The following are the B grade players to meet Y.M.C.A. Gym., at Intermediate, at 2 p.m.: -Goal: S. Shearer, B. Lammerton. Centre: W. Goddard, T. Hindrup, M. Healey. Defence: J. Whiting, R. Kidd, M. Lynch. The following are the girls to represent Past Students A against Technical College, at Technical, at 2 p.m.:— Goal: L. Hodson, G. Brooker, M. Broadbent. Centre: B. Goldsbury, Z. Whale, L. Goldsbury. Defence: M. Vollemeore, V. Howells, H. Ashby. The following is the B grade team to meet Fordell at 2 p.m.:—M. Walker, S. Rush, M. Coutts, J. Ambler, B. Broadbent, P. Goddard, V. McFetrish. M. Harris and M. Gilbertson.
