“THE WOMEN”
FRANK, AMUSING SATIRE \ Clare Boothe’s witty modern satire on feminine society, “The Women,” will be staged at the Majestic Theatre on Wednesday of next week. The distinguished New York actress, Irene Purcell, heads the cast of 40 women. Mary Dees, famous as the double of the late Jean Harlow, has a prominent role. She is cast as Crystal, a glamorous blonde who becomes the “other woman” in the married life of the heroine. She gives a fine performance in an unsympathetic role. The story tells how the malicious gossip of a group of society women drives the only decent character in the play into the divorce court. A clever Australian juvenile actress, Dorothea Dunstan, gives a convincing and restrained portrayal as the daughter of the heroine. The extremely brilliant and frank dialogue is a feature of the play. Booking arrangements are advertised.
