Director of the Field Division of the Department of Agriculture, looked into the possibility of tne Australian embargo on New Zealand potatoes being lifted for a further period and he said that although there was nothing definite to announce yet he was hopeful of arrangements being made for further supplies Lorn New Zealand being allowed into the Commonwealth. The present peiiod of import expires on Thursday. Before he left Sydney, Mr. Tennent pointed out that the main South Island crop would not be ready ior digging till May and it was not expected that there would be a very large surplus amount available for export.
