Meteorological Office. Wellington, Wednesday, April 19, 3 p.m. General Situation.—The depression over the South Island deepened iast night but is now beginning to move away. Pressure is high over soutth-eastern Australia. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong northerlies at first over Marlborough and the North Island, but a change to strong southerlies advancing from the south over the Dominion. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough about Foveaux Strait, elsewhere moderate to rather rough, but rising later south of Castlepoint and north of Farewell Spit. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly winds and rough seas. Weather: Cloudy to overcast, with fairly general rain. Some snow on the ranges of the South Island. Temperatures colder to-mor-row. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 10 minutes. Rainfall, .01. Temperature: Maximum, 70deg. Fahr.; minimum, 50deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 5.45 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 6.55 a.m. Phases of the Moon for April.—Full Moon, April 4; Last Quarter, April 12; New Moon, April 20; First Quarter April 27.
