ARAMOHO CLUB PRESENTATION OF PRIZES The annual presentation of prizes for members of the Aramoho Swimming Club will take place at the Aramoho Boating Club Hall to-night at a social function which will be attended by the Mayor of Wanganui, Mr. W. j. Rogers, and the president of the Wanganui Swimming Centre, Mr. J. B. Cotterill, M.P.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD REVIEW OF PAST SEASON AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS. “Although only one out of three teams collected championship honours, the club members stuck together in what we consider was a ti ‘lean’ season, to the extent, that the C club has this year already entered b three teams in the competitions, with g likelihood of yet another to be o entered by the incoming committee,” stated the annual report of the Wanganui Marist Rugby Football Club, * presented to last night’s meeting. The club conducted the Spillane Cup b tournament very successfully, that t also proving that the club is on the up-grade. “Teams.—Three teams from the * club participated in the Wanganui L championship competitions, senior, c junior and fifths. To the fifth grade * team, the committee offers congratu- r lations on winning their respective championship and on the keenness of the members. The seniors opened the f season rather well but owing to injuries reducing the numbers consider- * ably, the end of the season found r them short of playing members. How- a ever, we were exceedingly fortunate s in having some keen players who stuck to their guns to the extent that this team, finished the season fulfill- c ing all its engagements. The junior a side played inconsistently but was handicapped to a certain extent, due r to the fact that several players were c called o>n to fill the vacancies in the J senior ranks and eventually your committee saw fit to withdraw the € juniors from the competition and } merge the senior and junior sides into one, to compete in the Charity Cup round. In this round our team played in two matches performing very , creditably. At this stage we wish to offer our congratulations to those ( clubs whose teams were successful in winning their respective grades competition. ' “Practice.--The practices were generally poorly attended and proved most disheartening to the coaches. * The fifth grade team alone, giving a shining example to the older players, by having a full muster each training , night. It is hoped that this season, the other grades will follow this ex- 2 ample. “Representative Honours. Your ' committee offers congratulations to the following club members, who attained representative honours in their respective grades:—Senior, Martin, Wiwi, Currie and Hui. Junior, Mat- ■ thews and Tonga. “Friendly Matches.—Offers were received from Napier Marist for matches with our lower grades, but unfortunately, we were unable to acept, owing to the competition games. Our fifth grade team jour- , neyed to Palmerston North to play Kia Toa. “Finance.—As shown in the bal-ance-sheet, the treasurer reports satisfactory results in this direction for the season. One item that is of particular interest is the decided increase in the members subscriptions that have been payed. This is a matter that all members are reminded to attend to punctually, as a good deal of money is required to finance a Rugby Club and it is up to each and every member to assist. This would make your treasurer’s position much easier. “Club Trophies.—The club trophies were presented at the wind-up evenisg by Mr. McCashin as follows: Paul Fromont Memorial Cup (senior), M. Corrigan; Paul Fromont Memorial Cup (fifth), R. Reid; Frank Crotty Memorial Cup, L. Koorey; James Brown Cup, fifth grade; Garney Spooner trophy, L. Reardon; W. James trophy, L. Taylor; F. P. Koorey trophy. R. Martin. “Obituary.—Early in the season, the club lost one of it’s keenest young members, the late A. Green. ‘ Alby was a prominent member of our junior fifteen and a great club man. Members of the junior team acted as pallbearers and the club’s sympathy was extended to Mrs. Green. “Appreciation.—The thanks of the club is due to the following vice-presi-dents Messrs. T. Ryan, C. Rhimes, H. Carde, R. J. McDonald, W. McTubbs, G. R. McKenzie, O’Neil Bros., R. Cam- ’ pion. W. James, F. P. Koorey and G. - Spooner, E. D. Martin. Also to our many honorary members and sup1 porters who assisted the club throughout the season. Our thanks 1 is also due to the Press for their ever ready assistance and the St. John 1 Ambulance Society. “In conclusion, the out-going executive wish to advise, that owing to j the lateness of the annual general meeting (owing to the Spillane tour- ? nament), three teams have been I entered in the local competitions, for the coming season viz.:—Senior, r junior and fourths. These entries - will of course be subject to alteration j by the incoming committee if necess sary. And, finally, the outgoing committee wishes it’s successors every i success in the forthcoming season.” Officers Elected. ’ There was a good attendance of old 1 and new members at last night’s - meeting and the following officers were elected:—Patron, Rev. Father Outtrim; president (re-elected), Mr. M. McCashin (re-elected); vice-pre- - sidents. Miss E. Quinn, Messrs. W. 1 McTubbs, T. F. Ryan, G. R. McKen- - zie, R. Campion. O'Neil Bros., D.
