INDUSTRIAL MAGISTRATE WELCOMED
SITTING AT WANGANUI When the first sitting at Wanganui of the newly constituted Magistrate's Industrial Court opened yesterday, Mr. A. J. Weekes, secretary of the Wanganui Employers' Association, welcomed Mr. J. A. Gilmour, S.M.. and congratulated him on his appointment to the position. Mr. Weekes said that it was a year and eight months since the Arbitration Court sat in Wanganui, and some matters to be dealt with yesterday had been held up for more than a year.
Mr. Gilmour, who previously was Registrar of Arbitration Court No. 1, said he always looked forward to his visits to Wanganui. One of the main objects of his appointment was to ensure that the work of the Arbitration Court was kept up-to-date. He believed that some of the present applications had been held up for 18 months or more
