TAIHAPE AND RANGITIKEI SCORE WINS TOURNAMENT AT FEILDING (Per Press Association). FEILDING, March 21. Games for the Junior Cup were played in the New Zealand Polo Association tournament, at Feilding. this afternoon, Taihape beating Hawke’s Bay B. and Rangitikei B beating Masterton. Play between Taihape and Hawke’s Bay was fast and exciting for the greater part of the game, the Taihape men slowly overhauling the lead gained by 'Bay early in the game. The first chukka ended without score, but in the second ’Bay shot two goals which total was increased to three early in the third chukka. Taihape scored right on the bell, making the scores 3 to 1. A fast pace was maintained all through the fourth chukka, but there was no score until near the end, when Taihape succeeded in scoring a penalty goal. Taihape at the end of the fifth chukka made the scores level, Taihape drawing ahead with another goal at the start of the final chukka. A fast rally in the closing stages saw the Taihape men through again, making the final score 5 .to 3 in Taihape’s favour. Rangitikei opened badly against Masterton and the latter was not. slow to take advantage, Vallance goaling. The second chukka was tame until the close, when nice work by Rangitikei equalised the score. Masterton drew ahead again at the start of the third chukka, shooting two goals. The fourth chukka was quiet and scoreless, with Rangitikei making ineffective attacks. The fifth chukka resulted in another goal for Rangitikei following tame play, the same team reaching even terms with their opponents early in the last chukka. An exciting finish saw Rangitikei shoot the deciding goal from the I melee, making the final scores 4 to 3 'in Rangitikei's favour.
