HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, dated March 3: Tallow.—Market quiet. Present spot quotations are:—Multon: Fine, 24s 6d to 255; good, 21s to 21s 6d; fair, 16s 6d to 17s. Beef: Fine, 20s 6d to 21s; good, 18s; fair, 16s to 16s 6dMixed: Good,, 18s; fair, 16s to 16s 6d. gut, 13s 6d to 15s 6d. Mutton, dark to dull, 14s to 16s 6d; beef, dark to dull, 13s 6d to 15s 6d. Hemp—Manila: Market firm but rather quiet. Closing value “K" grade, £l7 10s. Sisal: Market steady; little more demand. Values March-May shipment, £l6 15s. New Zealand. Nothing to report. Apples—Good demand continues. Oregon Newtown, Ils to 14s; Washington Rome Beauty, Ils to Ils 6d; Winesap apples, 9s to 10s 6d. Pears. —Market is about the same. Californian Winter Nelis, 10s 6d to Ils; South African Beurre Hardy, 10s to 12s 6d. Peas.—Maples: Market firm; prices have advanced; Tasmanian supplies short. “A” grade Tasmanian sold up to 72s 6d; February-March shipment, value 71s to 725. No. 1 New Zealand, small sales reported 60s, 12s 6d MarchMay shipment.
