William George Smith, aged foui and a-half years, was fatally injured in an unusual accident at Lyttelton. He was sitting on the footpath nca. his homo in Hawkhurst Road and opposite was standing a coal lorry. The lorry ran back across the roan and hit lhe kerb, the imnact rtislodg ing a log on the bank above. The log fell and struck the boy, inflicting injuries from which he died two hours
