Mr, C. Williams, private secretary to the Hon. Adam Hamilton, is an old boy of Queen’s Park School and the Wanganui Technical College.

Mr. and Mrs. Hague Smith and family left Wanganui this week for Auckland, where they will take up their residence.

Mr. Henry Seff, director of the amusement park of the Centennial Exhibition, will arrive at Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney on Monday.

Mr. J. W. Heenan, secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs, arrives in Wanganui to-morrow to attend the United Fire Brigades’ Association demonstration.

Mr. D. Woodfield, of Wellington, is a visitor to Wanganui. He is to referee the water polo match tonight between the combined Welling-ton-Taranaki team and a WanganuiAuckland side.

Hon. W. Nash, Minister of Finance, visited Marton last night and attended the farewell to Mr. Ormond Wilson. Mr. Nash stayed with Mr. Wilson, at Bulls, last night, and will return to Wellington to-day.

Messrs. G. F. Newsome, S. Newsome, W. N. S. Rennie, and E. W. F. Gohns (secretary), will represent the Wanganui Master Bakers’ Association at the annual conference of the New Zealand Master Bakers’ Association, at Nelson, next week.

Major A. Hildreth, assistant divisional commander of the Salvation Army in Auckland, who has been transferred to a similar position in Wellington, arrived from the north on Friday. He was accompanied by Mrs. Hildreth,

Mr. W. Bailey, inspector for the Mutual Life and Citizens’ Assurance Co., Ltd., at Wellington, will leave 'Auckland on March 19 for a trip to America, England and the Continent. He will spend one month in America and three months in England.

Mr. Eric E. Wahlquist, touring manager for Nicola the Great, arrived in Wanganui yesterday to finalise arrangements for the presentation of the world famous magician and his American company at the Majestic Theatre next week.

Mr. G. F. M. Hall, till recently district representative for the Prudential Assurance Company, Ltd., in Hastings, has been promoted to the position of life branch agency supervisor for Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay. and has now taken up his residence in Napier. Mr. F. C. Cuming has been appointed to replace Mr. Hall as district representative in Hastings.

The death has occurred at Ohura of Mr. William Keith Williams, a pioneer business man of the district, aged 67. Mr. Williams was the first

white man to settle in this part of the King Country. From the earliest days he took an active part in all sports. He was president of the golf club, president of the tennis club, patron of the Ohura Agricultural, Pastoral, Horticultural and Industrial Association. Mr. Williams was also a past-president of the cricket club, president of the Chamber of Commerce Past Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Williams was renowned as a rifle shot, and also excelled at many games. He is survived by his widow, four sons and one daughter.
