ITALIAN CRUISERS UNCOMPLETED SOUTH AMERICAN TOUR [By Telegraph—Pi eta Association—Copyright} Received Feb. 15, 10.30 p.m. ROME, Feb. 15. It is announced that the cruisers Eugenio di Savoia and Durcadosta have been ordered to return home directly from Caracas because they have completed the main part of their goodwill mission to the South American republics, but it is believed that their return has been ordered because of hostile demonstrations at Costa Rica and Panama, plus the fact that Italy wants her full strength in home waters during the present international situation.
UNITED STATES INTEREST LATIN-AMERICAN REPUBLICS Received Feb. 16. 1 a.m. WASHINGTON, Feb, 15. It is announced that ®the United States is stationing additional military tepresentatives in the Latin-American republic to assist at military colleges, etc., as part of a determined attempt to offset the penetration of the totalitarian Sates. Within a few months the United States expects to have 29 army officers assigned in this way, besides naval attaches and missions. It is also announced that three of the newest cruisers will make courtesy calls at the principal South American ports.
Officials denied that the step was linked with Signor Mussolini's recent recall of the Italian cruisers.
