Resurfacing Parking Area.

The car-parking area behind the Alerander Museum will not be available for general use for some days owing to the activities of the City Council ground staff in resurfacing the area. The surface is being levelled, with a slight slope to carry off surface water, and when this work is completed the surface will be sealed. Physical Fitness Campaign. “We have plenty of work on the farm to keep us fit for the moment,” declared Cr. J. H. Perrett at the Manawatu County Council meeting on Tuesday, when a Government memorandum was received in relation to Fitness Week. Cr. Perrett considered the scheme had its applications as far as city and town-folk were concerned. Other councillors agreed with him. The county clerk, Mr. A. K. Drew, reminded the council of the numerous and varied sports activities already in the county and it was agreed that, as it would be almost impossible to organise a special county effort, the next best thing would be to help those sports bodies as far as possible.
