Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, February 15, 3 p.m. General Situation.—Yesterday’s depression has passed uapidly eastward and an anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong but gradually decreasing south-westerlies, tending westerly later about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough at many places with a considerable swell south of East Cape, but gradually decreasing except in the far south. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to fresh southwesterly winds veering to west and later north-west In the central and southern portions; seas moderate to rather rough. Weather: Some scattered rains in the northern half of the North Island and in parts of the coastal areas elsewhere, but falls mostly light and the weather generally improving. Temperatures cool. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 2 hours 20 minutes. Rainfall, .12in. Temperatures: Maximum, 70deg. Fahr.; minimum, 54deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 7.26 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.45
