, Comment on Play In sections A, C, and D, Pepper, London and Meek were straight-out winners, respectively. In section B, Bond and Rush tied with four wins each and in the play-off of five ends, Rush came out the winner. The four winners then assembled on the St. John's green and started post-section play. In section C, London, with four wins, and Caird, with one, met to play the final game in section play. Caird, with Hay as his partner, put up a great fight, the score being practically even all the way through and the game finished 15 all. In the extra end played, London secured one. In the fifth round of the same section, Stone, with four wins, played Haworth, with two wins. In the last, end, Stone required three to tie but had to be content with two. II Stone had won he would then have played off five ends with London to find the actual winner o£ the section. In the semi-final between Meek and Rush, the former required three to win on the last end, but was able to secure one only. In the London-Pepper game, the latter required two to win on lhe last end. He lay one on the head and with his last drew a beauty for second place, giving him the required two to win by one point. A peculiar feature in these two games is that each was won by one point. This left the final to be played between Rush and Pepper. Play in the Final On the fourth end the score was 4-3 to Pepper. On the next end, Rush se- | cured four, putting him three in the lead. The ninth brought the score to 10-all. On the 15th., the score was again level, being 15-all. From then on, Rush forged well ahead, securing eleven points to one by Pepper. The two leads did not play as well as they did in section play. Rush gave a splendid exhibition of play and well deserved his win. A. Pepper, the skip, played well and certainly saved his side from defeat by a wider margin. , To-day the singles tournament . starts, play, being at the Wanganui ( East and St. John’s greens. 1
