RAETIHI SHEEP FAIR
excellent clearance. Freeman R. Jackson and Co, Lid, report on their Raetihi Sheep Fair held on Thursday, 2nd inst, as follows : An entry of 900 mixed sheep was offered to'a good attendance of local and visiting farmers. With the exception of three pens a total clearance was effected. Lambs met with a good sale, particularly for ewe lambs, prices in most cases showing an advance on recent rates. In the grown wether section a free sale resulted. Only two pens of medium quality five-year ewes were yarded, the balance of the ewes comprising aged and nondescript sorts. Hence values secured ir. this department of the sale cannot be regarded as an indication of the market. On account of the late season being experienced the bulk of the ewes are being reserved for the main ewe fair on the 16th instant.
