CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES

“Spirit” was the subject of the les-son-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, February 4. The golden text was 11 Corin. 3:17. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon the following from the Bible, "But ye are not in the flesh, but in tne Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.” (Rom. 8,9, 10). Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.” “Our beliefs about a Supreme Being contradict the practice growing out of them. Error abounds where Truth should ‘much more abound.’ We admit that God has Almighty power, is ‘a very present help in trouble’; and yet we rely upon a drug or hypnotism to heal disease as if senseless matter or erring mortal mind had more power than Omnipotent Spirit.” (p. 202).
