MARRIED WOMAN’S DEATH THAMES, Jan. 16. An inquest concerning the death of Verna Elsie Shaw, aged 33, married, of Whitianga, was opened at Thames yesterday and adjourned pending a post-mortem examination. R. M. Shaw, of Whitianga, husband of the dead woman, gave evidence that his wife suffered from diabetes. On Thursday she took a bad turn and later he took her to the Thames Hospital. On Saturday he received a message that his wife was dangerously ill, and when he arrived she was dead.

A hypodermic syringe and needles shown witness by a constable were, he said, in the possession of his wife when she was admitted to hospital. They had been ordered by an Auckland doctor..
