SINGAPORE DEFENCES

MR. THORBY'S INVESTIGATIONS Received Jan. 14. 5.5 p.m. SINGAPORE, Jan. 13. The Australian Minister of Aviation (Mr. H. V. C. Thorby) arrived to-day and was received by the Air Officer Commanding and the Director of Civd Aviation. In an interview, Mr. Thorby said. "I hope to gather considerable knowledge of the Singapore and Malayan defences and how they link with the defences of Australia and New Zealand and New Guinea." Mr. Thorby will dine at Government House to-night.
