HOLIDAY ENDS ABRUPTLY

FIRE DESTROYS CAMPERS’ TENT WHAKATANE, Jan. 3. Fire destroyed the tent and camping gear of Mr. and Mrs. L. Capper, of Huntly, who, with their five children, were camping at Ohope Beach. A spirit lamp which Mrs. Capper was lighting flared up and ignited the side of the tent. Other campers rushed to the assistance of Mr. and Mrs. Capper and their car was pushed out of danger ana some of the effects saved from the burning tent. As a result of a collection made £6 6s was handed to Mr. and Mrs. Capper before they began their homeward journey.
