The Rev. W. M. Smallfield, vicar of the Wanganui Parochial District, left for Auckland yesterday. Mr. A. E. Hargreaves, formerly assistant district traffic manager of railways, Wellington, has taken up his new duties as district traffic manage!, Invercargill. Mr. John Stephenson (assistantSecretary at the Dominions Office, London) has been appointed assistant-Under-Secretary to the Dominions Office. Professor Stuart McDonald, who has been appointed by the General Medical Council “visitor" to the Otago Medical School, will arrive at Auckland by the Rimutaka on January 12. He will spend some time in the North Island, and will reach Dunedin early in February. The Rev. Dr. R. C. Gillie, of London and Bath, a prominent Free Church leader, will arrive at Wellington with Mrs. Gillie by the Tamaroa on January 26. They will spend a fewdays in Wellington before going on to Auckland, where Dr. Gillie will supply the pulpit at St. David’s Church during the absence in Britain of the Rev. W. Bower Black. Mr. and Mrs. Black will leave by the Awatea on January 17. They expect to be away for about eight months.
