MARTON JOCKEY CLUB

PAYMENTS IN TAXATION Taxation amounting to nearly £4OOO was collected by the Marton Jockey Club during the two days of the meeting held on Monday and Tuesday and goes into the Treasury coffers. There were many such windfalls for the Government during the holiday racing carnival, and as it cost nothing to collect this money there is little likelihood of relief from taxation. The taxes to which the investments and payments of racegoers are subject are made up as follow: Totalisator tax, 4 per cent; dividend tax 5 per cent; stakes tax 1 per cent; amusement tax (on admissions and subscriptions). The taxes paid under the respective headings by the Marton Jockey Club are as follow: £ s. d. Totalisator Tax 1826 10 5 Dividend Tax - 1997 9 0 Stakes Tax .. 31 8 0 Amusement Tax 142 18 8 Total £3998 6 1
