REAR-ADMIRAL C. MACKENZIE SERV ED IN CHINESE WATERS A distinguished visitor to Wanganui is Rear-Admiral Colin Mackenzie, C.1.E., D. 5.0., of Scotland. Accompanied by his wife, Rear-Admiral Mackenzie, arrived in the city yesterday, and stayed last night at Foster’s Hotel. Born in 1872, the son ot the late Donald Mackenzie, of Gairioch, Ro.s shire, Rear-Admiral Macxenzie entered the navy in 1885. He gained the rank of lieutenant in 189-1 and was made a commander 12 years later. He served in China during 1900, when he won the D. 5.0., and was mentioned in dispatches for service on the Tigris p.iver during operations north *r Qurnah, and the occupation of Amars m 1915. He was subsequently piomoted to the position of captain. On his retirement as a rear-admiral in 1926, he settled in Scotland.
