EVENING SPORTS This (Thursday) evening, as advertised. the usual Bulls-Ohakea Spo.rU Clubs meeting will be held on the Bulls Domain, commencing at 8 p.m. On Wednesday next an open trophy meeting will be held, the events being as follow:—Running: Ladies’ 75 and 100 yards; men’s 100 220, SBO yards and one mile. Cycling: Half-mile open; 1 mile and 2 miles junior, 1 mile and 2 miles senior. Trophies to the value of 21s (for first), and 10s 6d (second) will be given, and entries, with fees (Is each event and registered numbers), close with the secretary. Mr. C. B. Anderson, Box 24. Bulls on Saturday, January 7. V.TAL STATISTICS Mr. N. H. Amon, registrar, supplies the following list of vital statistics for the December quarter, with those of the corresponding period of 1937 shown in parentheses: Births, 4 (4); daths, 0 (0); marriages, 0 (1). BOWLING Several interesting games were played on the local green during the holidays, but during the week-end play was abandoned when news was received of the death of a member, Mr. Sam W. Ingram, of Ohakea. The late Mr. Ingram was a foundation member of the club and one of the green committee. He woj well known on bowling greens in Wanganui and Manawatu, and often represented the centre at Wellington and Hawke’s Bay. travelling with a Bulls rink to Napier and Hastings quite recently. Not only was he a line exponent of the bowling art, but his genial character gained him hosts of friends, and he will be sadly missed on the green. He was for some years a director of the Rangitikei Dairy Co., Ltd., and took an active interest in various sports bodies as well. Great sympathy is felt for his widow and three sons. Results of games played:— Tricker, F. Stevens, Walker 21, defeated Leat, Amon. Drew 17. Meads, Capstick 20, drew with Young, Pearce 20. O’Donoghue, F. Stevens. H. Stevens 7, lost to Meads, Amon, Walker 10. Burt, Turner, Capstick 12, defeated Leat, Young, Archer 9. PERSONAL During the holidays, Mr. and Mrs. A. Ede’s guests included Mr. Noel Ede ’ N.Z. Military Forces, Fort Dorset), Mr. Harold Ede (Paraparaumu). and Miss M. Dunn (Seatoun). Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Edwards spent the New Year holidays at the beach.
