SLOW SALE FOR N.Z. NEW SEASON’S Because of holidays this week market generally quiet with values unchanged. First arrivals of new season’s New Zealand lamb selling slowly from 81d to 83d ex hooks. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Prices for the previous week are shown in parentheses: — New Zealand Sheep.—Crossbred wethers and-or maiden ewes: 481 b and under, 43d (43d); 491 b to 561 b, 4 l-8d (4 l-8d); 571 b to 641 b, 4 l-8d (4 l-8d); 651 b to 721 b, 4 l-8d (4 l-8d). MEAT SHIPMENTS TO U.K. The Meat Producers’ Board is advised by its London office that the shipments from Australia, South Africa and South America, to the United Kingdom, during the first half of December, were as follow: — Australia: 46,488 carcases mutton; 310,798 carcases lamb; 16,683 quarters beef (froze'n); 8993 quarters beef (chilled). South America: 258 carcases mutton; 122,378 carcases lamb; 6115 quarters beef (frozen); 152,650 quarters beef (chilled). South Africa (including Southern Rhodesia): 1956 quarters beef (chilled). The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the first half of December were as follow: 27,893 carcases mutton; 211,794 carcases lamb; 8258 quarters beef (frozen); 13,439 quarters beef (chilled).
