Miss M. Julian, of Waitara, spent the week-end in Wanganui. Mrs. M. Shaw, Wanganui, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. G. Shaw, Matihiwi. Mr. and Mrs. Pearson, of Penrose, Auckland, visited friends in Wanganui during the holidays. * * * * Mrs. M. Foxcroft, of Dunedin, visited Wanganui during the weekend. Mrs. J. S. H. Robertson, of Lower Hutt, is the guest of Mrs. J. Leslie Lambert, "Araroa,” Hunterville. Miss Nora Sampson, Wanganui, has returned from a holiday visit to Europe. Mrs. A. W. J. Peacock, Wanganui, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Dunnage, at Christchurch. Professor and Mrs. G. W. von Zedlitz, Wellington, are on a holiday visit to Wanganui. Mrs. Gebbie has returned to Wanganui after some months spent in Great Britain and the Continent. Miss Muriel Swann, of Wanganui, is at present on holiday in Napier, and is staying with her sister at Wellesley Road. * * • * Mr. and Mrs. P. Henie, of Raetihi, are visitors to Wanganui, and are staying with Mrs. Healey, St. John's Hill. Miss E. Parsons, Bell Street, leaves to-morrow for Waipukurau, to attend a wedding. Mrs. W. Dunkley, Wanganui East, and her daughters, Misses Wynne and Bobbie Dunkley, left yesterday to spend a holiday at Rona Bay. Miss Stanford and Miss C. Stanford, Wicksteed Street, leave to-day on a visit to Marton and later will go on a round of visits to friends and relatives. Miss Adams, Plunket Nurse, with her mother, left yesterday on a month’s holiday, first to Paekakariki and later on to Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Howie and Miss Deicia Howie, of St. John’s Hill, who were guests at Mrs. J. D. Lilburn’s Christmas house party at Drysdale, Hunterville, are visiting Mrs. J. Leslie Lambert. “Araroa.” Mrs. Cole, a well-known minus croquet player, who has for many years lived in Dunedin, will leave the south soon to take up her residence in Wanganui. Miss Helen Benbow, London, general secretary, League of Women Helpers, Toe H, who has been in New Zealand for nine months, and who has been staying in Christchurch, left yesterday for Wellington to join the Awatea for Australia. The death occurred recently of Mrs. Evelyn Clark, who had held the distinction of being the first lady land agent in New Zealand. Mrs. Clark was in business at New Brighton for 10 years until 1924, when she went to England. Since then she had lived in Sydney and Christchurch. She took a prominent part in war relief activities and as a voluntary worker during the 1918 influenza epidemic. ENGAGEMENTS Kitt—Hammond.— The engagement is announced of Joan Evelyn, daughter of Mrs. Hammond, Wellington, and the late Mr. F. A. M. Hammond. and lan Hamilton, second son of Mrs. Mabel Kitt, Hastings, and Mr. J. R. Kitt, Wanganui. Cowper—Marshall. — Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Marshall, of Greenbank, Marton, announce the engagement of their eldest daughter, Margaret Anderson, to Brian Alston, elder son of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. E. Cowper, of "Lyncairne,” Wanganui.
