CHRISTMAS IN SYDNEY
SHOPPING WELL UP TO STANDARD Received Dec. 23, 10.55 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 23. Christmas shopping in Sydney is perhaps not a record but nevertheless it is well up to the standard of previous best years. City streets yesterday and to-day were thronged, completely disorganising traffic. Opinions of some business men indicate that the spending power of the public this year is restricted owing to the unsettled conditions at home and abroad. There is a noticeable tendency on the part of a large percentage of shoppers to husband their resources in view of the uncertain outlook.
