SWIMMING The usual Thursday evening club night was well patronised this week by both competitors and spectators, the latter being fortified against the wintry atmosphere with top coats and rugs. The h n dy swimmers, however, were not deterred by the cold winds and the entries were good. PERSONAL Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hislop, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs. A. Elmslie, “Athol,” before spending a camping holiday at the Waverley Beach. Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Thomson are holidaying in Auckland. They intenc spending the Christmas and New Year holidays launching in the Hauraki Gulf. Mrs. F. J. McDonald. Tauranga, is the guest of her son, Mr. J. McDonald. and Mrs. McDonald, “Duror.” Mr. and Mrs. D. Flower are spending Christmas in Wanganui and the remainder of the school vacation in Wellington. Miss E. Cleary. Palmerston North, is holidaying with her sister, Miss Cleary, Remuera. Mr. and Mrs. Allen and family, Invercargill, are the guests of Mrs. Alien’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Brom i ley. Mr. and Mrs. J. Davidson are holidaying in Wellington as the guests of Mrs. Davidson’s mother, Mrs. Charteris. Miss Patterson, Te Puke, was a recent visitor to Waverley. She is spending the school vacation in Timaru. Miss E. Rounthwaite is spending the Christmas holidays in Wellington.
