GALLOPS AT ELLERSLIE
PADISHAH GOES WELL SOME RECENT ARRIVALS AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. The course proper, with the polos 55ft. out, was open for fast work at Ellerslie this morning, but owing to the heavy rain last night the going was holding. Bronze Emerald (Cammick) got about two lengths the best of the I start from Chelandry (Tremain) at the four furlong post, and ran home in 535. Chelandry was closer at the finish, "her time being 52 2-ss. Aero King (Tremain) covered a similar distance in 56 4-ss. Blonde Princess (J. Mclnally) covered four furlongs (from the seven to the three) in 555. Palmint (Gilchrist) and Erination (Tremain) were sent six furlongs, which occupied 1.23. There was not much between them at the finish, though Palmint was doing best at the end. Electric Flash worked over about seven furlongs, but was not doing better than about 15s to the furlong. Glen Abb (Markwick) and Padishah (Forsyth) were companions over a mile, the first half taking 52 2-ss, and the full distance 1.46 2-5. Padishah was just a shaded in front at the pose and did his work well. Kelly (Gilchrist) and Knight of Australia (Messervy) covered a similar distance in 1.49 4-5, the first half-mile taking 5a 1-bs. Kelly was holding his comI panion at the finish, though Knight of Australia worked well. Stretto (Wiggins) went away from the six furlong post, and after covering the first three in 38 4-ss, ran the full distance in 1.18 4-5. Electric Spear (Tremain) and Bonnybelle (Messervy) covered half a mile, the latter finishing eight lengths in front in 53 4-ss. Electric Spear was not knocked about. Konneta (Markwick) began quicker than High Caste (Wiggins) at the five furlong post. The former was two lengths in front after running the first two furlongs in 245, but High Caste beat her home in 1.5 4-ss. Mai de Mer (Cammick) ran a mile in 1.55 1-5, Innovation (Bruce) coming home with him over the last half, which took 54 l-ss. Valspear (Tremain) went away from the five furlong post in 1.9. He had a bit in reserve. King Dazzle (Messervy) finished in front of Esquire (Wiggins) at the end of three furlongs in 39 4-ss. King Dazzle worked better than when he galloped previously.
