RUTHLESS PURGE OF IRON GUARD ELEMENTS. 11. ARRESTS OF SUSPECTS. BUCHAREST, Dec. 4. The Polish police reports that the Rumanian police are carrying out a ruthless purge of Iron Guard elements throughout the country. They arrested 18,000 suspects in two days. Three Iron Guards who had been arrested concerning the assassination of Goanga were shot dead while escaping. MANY ARRESTS MADE JEWISH BUILDINGS BURNT. Received Dec. 5, 11.5 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 4.

The Bucharest correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that many arrests have followed the shooting of the three Iron Guards yesterday. Many Jewish buildings have been burnt down and Jews attacked in Bessarabia, where Iron Guards ordered Jewish teachers to close schools.

The lawyer, Jon Victor Vgjen, who is in hiding in arder to avoid arrest, has taken over M. Codreanu’s leadership.
