HODSON-—LEWIS The wedding was celebrated at i Christ Church, Wanganui, yesterday) afternoon, of Pera Constance, elder; daughter of Mrs. Oswald Lewis and! the late Mr. Lewis, of Wicksteed | Street, Wanganui, to Arthur Shirley, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Hod-' son, of Wellington. Archdeacon J. R. Young performed; the ceremony. Golden lilies and other i flowers in gold shades were used in | 1 profusion for the decorations, which ■ made an artistic setting for the bridal' retinue. The bride’s lovely gown was of rich ivory and silver embossed brocade which gleamed in the subdued rays oi sunlight from the church windows as she walked down the aisle with her uncle, Sir Thomas Wilford. Her frock was beautifully cut to reveal the loveliness of the material. The unusual ruching down the front and back oi the bodice was most attractive, the V neckline ending at a vandyke point in front and the back being finished with a row of buttons and loops to match those on tlie cuffs of the tight-fitting sleeves which widened at the shoulders.. An open and roundecLJront al the hem to show the matching shoes, characterised the skirt. The long, graceful train Hared from the waist-, line al the back. Misty double tulle formed her veil, which was caught at the head with a topknot of tiny roses and orange blossoms. A short, full veil was also worn. Her bouquet comprised cream single roses, double roses in a deeper shade, lily of the valley, very line maidenhair fern and asparagus. •j Green was the colour chosen for her ' three maids. They were the Misses I Noel Lewis (bride’s sister), Shirley I Nancarrow and Marjorie Gillies I (Hawke’s Bay). Their frocks of pastel green French ninon were fashioned with circular skirts edged with a ruffle frill, while the bodices had square necklines and elbow-length puff sleeves, all edged with ruffle frills. Tight, wide corselet belts made a smart finish to the dainty frocks. Their head-dresses were spray clusters of gold polyanthus. Each bridesmaid wore a string of pearls and gold shoes and carried a bouquet of azalia mollis in yellow and gold shades, gold sun-star roses and polyanthus and maidenhair fern. The best man was Mr. E. V. Dawson, of Wellington, and the groomsmen were Messrs. L. Speedy and C.

Sievers, of Car ter ton. Flowers in shades to match the bridal frocks were used for decorative purposes in the home of Mrs. G. W. Currie, Wicksteed Street, where the reception was held after the ceremony. Mrs. Lewis, the bride’s mother, received her guests in a navy blue two-piece suit of crinkled crepe georgette, with cream vestee and large navy lace straw hat with bandeau in cyclamen and small flowers in the same shade with pale blue intermingled. She held a toning bouquet. Mrs. Hodson, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy blue rippled silk frock with bolero coatee and a navy straw hat with cluster of pastel i coloured flowers. She carried a bouquet to tone. For travelling the bride wore a smart two-piece wool lace suit in the new orchid green shade, with pleated belt, and bands at the pockets and cuffs. With it was worn a chiffon scarf in Oriental stripes and small pointedcrown hat with rolled brim of pleated silk in alternating colours in the same shades as the scarf. McDOl > St. Paul’s Church, Paeroa, was the |scene, on Saturday evening, of a very : pretty wedding, when Joy McDonald 1 Tai boys, eldest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. G. S. Taiboys, of Paeroa, was married to George Alexander McDougal, eldest son of Mrs. and the ■ late Mr. G. A. McDougal, of St. John’s Hill, Wanganui. Canon W. G. H. Weadon performed the ceremony and Mr. W. J. Forrest presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by Mr. C. N. O’Neill, of Paeroa, wore a frock of ivory lace over duchess satin moulded to the figure and cut to form i a long train, the hodice being finished ; with a heart-shaped neckline. Her j , ;■ iij veil ot ivory tulle was ! fastened to the head with a top-knot of orchids. Sh carried an ivory prayer book finished with satin ribbons and orchids. In attendance as bridesmaids were her two sisters, Misses Jean and Wanda Taiboys, who were frocked alike in lavender taffeta cut on prinIcess lines, having heart-shaped neckI lines. They wore gold chain necklaces, the gifts of the bridegroom, top knots of pink and mauve stock and carried sheafs of stock to tone with their frocks. Mr. Hugo Wall of Tauranga, acted as best man, while Mr. Jock McDougal, of Wanganui, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of groomsman. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s mother, where the guests were ! received by Mrs. falboys, assisted by ; Mrs. McDougal, motnei of the bridegroom.
