Heavy cattle were inclined to ea. • in a larger yarding at the WestiieH: stock sales, although values for prim., lightweights were firm. Extra choic.. ox beef sold at 40s per 1001 b., choice and prime 34s to 395, unfinished 30s to 365; prime cow and heifer 32s to 38s; secondary and unfinished 25s to 31s. Extra heavy prime steers sold at £l5 5s to £l6 10s, heavy £l4 5s to £l5 10s, medium £l3 to £l4 ss, light £ll to £l3 ss; heavy £8 12s 6d to £lO ss, medium £7 12s 6d to £8 15s, light £6 to £7 10s, unfinished 3 10s to £5 15s. Values were inclined to ease in a heavier yarding of sheep in spite of steady competition, the decline in some cases equalling 2s to 3s a head. Extra heavy prime wethers, woolly, 30s to 34s 6d, shorn 17s 9d to 26s 6d; heavy woolly 27s to 295, shorn 23s to 245; light woolly 22s to 23s 6d, shorn 17s 6d to 18s 6d; unfinished shorn 12s 6d to 16s; extra heavy prime ewes, woolly, 21s 6d to 23s 6d, shorn 18s 6d to 20s; heavy woolly 20s to 21s, shorn 16s 6d to 19s 6d; medium woolly 18s to 19s, shorn 14s to 18s; light shorn Ils 9d to 16s. Only shorn hoggets came forward and values were easier, ranging from 15s 3d to 21s. Spring lamhs were yarded in much larger numbers and values were lower allorund from 10s to 30s.

Rough sorts were again in the majority in the calf offering and prices fell, with values for prime quality firm. Runners £4 10s to £8 10s; heavy vealers £6 3s to £7 4s, medium £4 18s to £5 17s 6d, light £3 8s to £4 15s, smaller £1 to £3 17s 6cl, bobby and rough 3s to £1 7s. Values were fully up to late quotations for a heavier yarding of pigs, choppers making £2 to £4, heavy baconers £3 15s to £4, medium £3 9s to £3 14s, fight £3 2s to £3 9s; heavy porkers £2 16s to £3 2s, medium £2 7o to £2 15s, light £2 Is to £2 7s, small and unfinished £1 14s to £1 18s, stores £1 13s to £2 4s, slips £1 2s to £1 14s, weaners 10s to £1 4s. Baconers averaged 6d to 6id per lb., and porkers 6:fd to 7id.
