Pairman read a very interesting article on Marguerite Salle, the famous artist model. This was enjoyed very much by those present as Miss Salle is of New Zealand nationality. At the next meeting, in November, all members are requested to attend as Mrs. Wickham, the Dominion president, will address the meeting. Mrs. M. Deighton and Miss E. C. Deighton were hostesses and a very enjoyable afternoon tea concluded the meeting, Hostesses for the November meeting are Mesdames D. Gorringe and G. Green. MEETING The October meeting of the Mangaweka Women’s Institute was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall and was very well attended, Mrs. J. Ince presiding. Mrs. Moyle acted as secretary, owing to thhe absence of Mrs. McLeod. The motto was given by Miss Dickinson and the golden thread, bn Mrs. Roosevelt, provided by Mrs. Fred Billinghurst, was most interesting. Two-minute reports, written by three members, told us of our doings during the last six months, and community singing during the afternoon was much enjoyed. A talk by the Rev. C. Webster, telling of his trip across the Atlantic from England to Canada, and incidents of his life while there, was most interesting and entertaining. The competitions of seed cake and raspberry jam were won by Mrs. Lewis, and the best collection of bulbs by Mrs. Dickinson and Mrs. Ince, equal. Members are reminded that at the next meeting'there will be a bring-and-buy and a collection in aid of the Chinese children’s fund.
