THE CLOSING OF ENTRIES THIS MONTH Breeders and exhibitors are reminded that entries for the annual show of the Wanganui A. and’ P. Association which is to be held on the racecourse, at Wanganui, on Wednesday and Thursday, November 9 and 10, will close at the secretary’s office, at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, October 26. This leaves only two weeks to the closing date and it is hoped that those intending to exhibit at the show will not leave the completion of their entries to the last day or two, but will send their entry forms immediately. A last minute rush sometimes leads to disappointment, and it will be a great help to the office staff if early entries are received. The show promises tc be a record one and competition will be keener than ever before in most of the various classes. It is not generally known that at the Wanganui A. and P. Show, champion and reserve champion ribbons are awarded in each stud section in addition to class prize ribbons. The breed champion in each section also receives a breed champion card, in the stud cattle section a very fine challenge cup has been donated by the Wanganui Drapers’ Association, foi the supreme champion of the section. New trophies presented this year in the stud cattle section are the Merewether Motor Company’s Silver Challenge Cup, for points prize for stuc’ Friesians. The Wanganui Drapers' Association Silver Challenge Cup as a points prize in the stud Ayrshires. . The G. F. Moore Silver Challenge Cup as a points prize in the stud Hereford section and the “Meat and Wool” Cup valued at 30 guineas for the best registered purebred beef animal. Other trophies in the stud cattle section are the J. Hodges Memorial Challenge Cup for the best pair of yearling heifers in the show and J Hodges’ Cup for the stud milking Shorthorn section (pen of 2 yearling heifers). Such an array of trophies has never before been competed for in Wanganui and this fact, in addition to the generous prize money allotted is undoubtedly the reason why entries are likely to break all records.
