SOCIAL SECURITY

DR. WELBY FISHER S ADDRESS MOTION CARRIED AT TAIHAPE MEETING At the conclusion of Dr. Welby Fisher s address on the social security scheme at the Presbyterian Hall, Taihape, on Tuesday evening, Mr. A. James moved a hearty vote of thanks to Dr. Fisher for his able and instructive address and for his public-spirited action in leaving a busy practice in Taumarunui to visit Taihape. “There is no doubt in my mind, after hearing Dr. Fisher’s criticism, that not only is the measure unsound, but is so fraught with danger to the doctors, the patients and the nursing institutions that such power that is left us should be used to the utmost to prevent the legislation which was recently passed, from becoming operative,” said Mr. James. “I have therefore, very great pleasure in moving that a very hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Dr. Fisher.” The motion was carried by acclamation.
