NO TAXI SERVICE
DEMAL BY MINISTER POSITION IN WELLINGTON [ Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 12. A denial (hat the Railways Department had taken out taxi licences in Wellington or that they intended to do so was given to-day by the Minister of Railways, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, commenting on the statement by Mr. A. N. Grigg, National candidate for mid-Canterbury, that the department had obtained three licences and run taxis between the wharves and Wellington hotels. “I wish to say it is not a fact that the department has taken out any taxi licences in Wellington nor does it contemplate doing so,” said Mr. Sullivan. "Therefore there is not the slightest ground so far as the department is concerned for the statement attributed to Mr. Grigg, nor is there any ground whatever for apprehension by taxi drivers or firms engaged in this business in Wellington regarding the possibility of the department entering into competition with them by running taxis in
