DR. BENES TO STAND

GLASGOW UNIVERSITY ELECTION LONDON, Oct. 11. Dr. Benes, until recently President of Czechoslovakia, has agreed to stand as a Scottish Nationalist candidate at the Glasgow University rectorial election. Dr. Benes has consented to nomination as representing the principle of the right of small democratic nations to order their own affairs. The election will be held on October 22. Other candidates are Sir Archibald Sinclair (Liberal), Mr. Laurence Houseman (Pacifist), and Sir Henry Lunn (Distributist). “NOT EVEN CONSIDERED IT’’ LONDON, Oct. 11. Although members of the University fully believed that Dr. Benes had accepted nomination, Dr. Benes has advised the Czech Legation that he has not accepted and has not even considered it.
