BULLS

GENERAL NEWS. Mr. E. B. Gordon, National candidate for Rangitikei, will address electors in Bulls Town Hall this evening. During the week-end about 50 players took part in games on the Rangitikei golf links. In the morning a Stableford bogey was played, the winners being Mrs. McDonell and Mr. Gronn (30), and the runners-up were Mrs. Scott and Mr. A. W. Amon. In the afternoon Canadian foursomes were played, Miss Curtis and Mr. N. Amon (71) being the winners, and Miss Price and Mr. R. Field were runners-up. Beautiful weather prevailed on Saturday for the official opening of the Bulls Tennis Club’s season, and there was a large attendance of members and visitors. Mr. J. E. Walker, chairman of the Town Board, congratulated members on the excellence of the courts and their surroundings, and wished the club a successful season. Miss Indra Walker hit the first ball over the net, and a mixed doubles knock-out competition followed, the winners being Mrs. Eyles and Mr. Biggs. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies, and the function was a very enjoyable one.

RANGITIKEI LADIES’ GOLF CLUB Following is the draw for a bogey match, to be played on October 13, this being the last competition day this season: Miss Flyger v. Miss O. Levett, Miss McKenzie v. Miss Price, Miss Anderson v. Miss Coleman, Mrs. Hendry v. Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Anderson v. Mrs. Last-Harris, Mrs. Dalrymple v. Mrs. McDonell, Miss-Palmer v. Mrs. D. Wilson, Miss Willis v. Mrs. W. Pearce, Miss B. Kilgour-Carter v. Mrs. Laurence, Mrs. Tricker v. Miss Guy, Mrs. Drew v. Mrs. Carter, Miss P. Levett v. Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Sadler v. Mrs. H. Pearce, Mrs. Prichard v. Mrs. Gibbons, Mrs. Clark v. scorer. In last week’s L.G.U. medal round the best scores were: Mrs. Carter, 121 —36—85; Mrs. Hendry, 105—19—86; Mrs. Dalrymple, 107—19—88.
