NEW SEASON'S WOOL
EARLY GISBORNE CLIP 13 BALES ALREADY SHIPPED GISBORNE, Oct. 8. The first of the new season’s wool has been received in the Gisborne stores. The consignment was one of 13 bales, comprising the first portion of the dry shearing on the Waimoana Station, Wainui. It consisted of Romney hogget and wether wool. Small quantities of rams’ wool had been received a month or so ago, but this is not counted when reference is made to the commencement of shearing in the district, for it is customary for a number of flock owners to shear rams some time before other sections of their flocks. The consignment of wool from Waimoana was in store for only a short period, and it was sent immediately to the wharf for loading on the motor-vessel Margaret W., which later left for Auckland. At Auckland the wool will be transhipped to the Tamaroa, which is due to arrive in London on November 16. Thus the first of the new season’s Gisborne wool will be in London before many station owners in the district have commenced shearing.
