OBITUARY

MRS. ELIZABETH GOW \ The funeral took place at the Aramoho Cemetery yesterday of Mrs. Elizabeth Margaret Gow, whose death occurred suddenly at her home, 11 Swiss Avenue, Gonville, on Saturday night. Mrs. Gow spent the early part ol her life in Greymouth, where she and her husband, Mr. John Gow, were widely known. A quiet worker for charity, Mrs. Gow devoted much ol her time to providing clothing for the needy, earning the gratitude of many Wanganui families for her voluntary work. She was a member of Knox Church, Gonville. She leaves her husband, Mr. J. Gow, two sons, Mr. J. Gow, junr., Wellington, and Mr. Neil Gow, New Plymouth, and one daughter, Mi's. J. Read, Hastings. MR. SAMUEL ANDREW, OF FEILDING A well-known and almost life-long resident of Feilding passed away in the Palmerston North Hospital in Mr. Samuel Andrew, at the age of 87 years. It was in the very early days that the deceased gentleman went to Feilding as the representative of the Rangitikei Advocate, of which paper his brother was part proprietor. For many years he carried out the duties in Feilding and district as the representative of the Marton journal and on relinquishing his position remained to live in tho town. He served a term on the Feilding Borough Council under the Mayoralty of the late Mr. G. Harford, and was identified with progressive moves in the public interest in other ways. A keen student of Esperanto, Mr. Andrew made a trip Home to the world conference of this movement, a cause which he vigorously expounded. His death will be regretted by many who enjoyed his acquaintance, removing as it does one of those remaining able to speak with first-hand knowledge of the development of Feilding and the district.

The late Mr. Andrew was a devotee to outdoor life and enjoyed nothing better than camping trips extending over many weeks. He was a member of both the Feilding and Oroua Bowling Clubs. He resided in Denbigh Square and is survived by his widow and one son, who lives in Auckland. Mr. John Andrew, of Bunnythorpe, is a brother.
